This item is a set of two patterns to make vestments, designed and created by a retired minister, who offers the following message about this item:
I hope these patterns will enable you to create many beautiful vestments to be used in worship and for every ministerial occasion. I know how difficult it is to find unique, beautiful and affordable vestments. My goal is to bring quality garments to you at affordable prices. Since vestments are as much a part of church services as hymns and church decor, it is my hope that everyone in the ministry can be beautifully vested without having to put a large dent in their budget.
Within the church's guidelines, be creative! Sewing vestments with love and care is a very good way to use your talent to serve the church. T is nothing so special as a vestment that is designed and sewn by hand. Custom vestments make wonderful gifts! And don't be afraid to alter the patterns and use creative embroidery, appliqué, and trim to make your vestments something special!
You will receive the pattern and instructions to make the following:
Dalmatic: A vestment usually worn by Deacons. It is worn over the Alb with the Stole worn either inside or outside. The finished Dalmatic made from this pattern will be 50 inches from the nape of the neck to the hemline, 24 inches from the hem of the sleeve to the neckline, and 60 inches wide overall, from the end of one sleeve to the end of the other. One size fits most, but the pattern could easily be altered for length and/or width. Deacon Stole: The Deacon Stole is worn by deacons for services. The stole can be of any color and texture desired. T is sometimes no decoration other than the pattern of the fabric itself, but embroidery, appliqué, fringe and tassels are often used to embellish this stole. The Deacon's Stole is worn over the left shoulder, across the chest and fastened at the right hip. The tails of the stole hang down the right leg to below the knee.
Fabric : The pattern is made from non-woven fabric (similar to non-fusible interfacing), to provide many years of use. Markings : Markings are clearly done in permanent ink marker. Instructions : Complete, step-by-step instructions for making the vestment. Sewing : This pattern was designed for the beginning to advanced tailor or seamstress. The vestment can be made as simply and as inexpensively as desired; but they can also be embellished with embroidery, appliqué, or trim to be as ornate and beautiful as you wish.
