This vintage sommerso vase is visually fascinating with a layer of cobalt blue having spiraling cobalt threads encasing a green interior. The outside is a thick layer of beautiful clear glass. The vase is a flattened lozenge and has a graceful, well balanced shape. The interior colors are rich and deep. The symmetrical threads spiral continuously around the interior section creating an optical illusion of checks when viewed from either side.

The vase was made by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, Sweden ca 1959 and is signed by hand on the bottom, "Kosta L H 1590". The vase is a good size, measuring 7¾" (about 20cm) high x about 3½" (9cm) at the widest in the middle x about 1 7/8" (4.7cm) at widest on the bottom. The glass is thick and very heavy, so please use the shipping calculator for costs.

Condition: The vase is in nice overall condition with no unsightly scratches marring the beautiful surface. T are a few tiny rubs on the lip and a very tiny flake/sliver on the bottom (please see the last picture below). I'm not sure if this might have happened during the finishing of the bottom, but is not noticeable when viewing the vase and most people would never even see it.
