Up for auction is a an antique Victor Talking Machine Victrola Model 2-55 Orthophonic Phonograph. This unit was manufactured in the late 1920s and sold for around $35.00. The 2-55 Model was one of Victor's more deluxe portable phonographs offering a fancy alligator finish case and gold-plated hardware. Up for bid is a Victor 2-55 Orthophonic Phonograph. The 2-55 was one of Victor's more deluxe portables, offering a fancy alligator finish case and gold-plated hardware. It was first offered in 1928 for $35. This particular machine was discovered in the attic of the original owner's home. This unit is working but needs a little adjustment (nothing major). The brake on the side had to be held in place to remain disengaged and the latch that holds the lid in place need reattached. The exterior of the case shows some signs of age and a little saddle soap would probably do wonders for it. The phonograph has an old felt record cleaner that comes with it that is in excellent condition as well as an orginal tin of Victrola brand "Tungs-Tone Needles". The needle tin mounts to the top of the phonograph by a pair of clips. This Victola is equipped with Victor's Orthophonic reproducer which creates a sharp clear sound. With a little clean up and adjustment this would be a great old piece. Shipping includes insurance.
