Victoria Proof Crown 1893

Pricing & History
Victoria Proof Crown 1893, S3937, KM783, Old or Veiled Head, raised LVI date in the edge legend, PR67 NGC, Superb Gem Proof, a gorgeous coin with exquisite neon-blue, rose-pink, and ginger-ale gold iridescent toning, yet the fields remain brightly reflective. Among the finest known of this type, from one of the sets made for collectors to celebrate the new portrait seen here of the aging monarch, who would pass into history eight years later. Perfectly graded, fully original, and with truly great eye-appeal. For price comparison, in our 2010 ANA auction we featured an 1893 crown graded PR65 by PCGS that had glorious blue toning, and realized $9,500. The color on the present specimen may not be quite so dramatic but the quality here is nonpareil and the iridescence is utterly captivating, so our top estimate may well be exceeded. If you've been waiting for the chance to obtain a really wonderful example of this crown, here it is. Grade: 67, Service: NGC, Service No.: 127083
