EXQUISITE - VICTORIAN 12K ROLLED ROSE GOLD & AMETHYST DANGLE EARRINGS- - NR I am so pleased to offer this FANTASTIC and VERY RARE pair of Antique Victorian Rolled Rose Gold & Amethyst dangle earrings...they are HUGE and have such detailed ornate repousse designs on them that consist of ROSEBUDS which a fine granulation finish in contrast to the smooth and shiny rose gold.. They have a 2 1/2" DROP ... just so beautiful !!! They each have a LARGE circular dangle each set with a faceted Amethyst Stone ...which are both a gorgeous rich purple color.. Their are repousse roses on the front and to complete the picture are beautiful Etruscan dangles at the base of each earring.. and they catch the light with every turn ! I also have the matching brooch currently on auction this evening.. and these look so beautiful together., but separated them as some buyers just prefer earrings rather than the demi parure . A very old set indeed..!!! Amethyst is the birthstone associated with February. It is also associated with the astrological signs of Pisces , Aries , Aquarius and Sagittarius. A PERFECT romantic antique gift for a loved one .. and if both are purchased t is only one ship fee. The start price is not indicative of their value , as I start all my earrings at this price regardless of value.. HISTORY They are Circa 1850 by design and styling, and are the most popular french wires in a soft rose gold. The earwires are 12 karat rolled gold and are a soft rose gold color and the drops are either rose gold shell or low karat gold.. and have that beautiful antique rose gold coloring.. and t are contrasting yellow gold embellishments for a fabulous eyecatching look ! . Antique rolled gold earrings such as this are considered to be equivalent to todays low karat gold and wear the same. The drops are more than likely rose gold shell front and back.. which was very common during these early times ...and is indicative of their quality at time of manufacture. DESCRIPTION & SIZING Each earring drop measures 2 1/2" in length and just under 1" in width and the rich purple Amethyst stone dangle measures just under 1/4" in size and is enclosed in a double VINE LEAF. The large central hoop style dangles move independantly of the top bale so they dangle and swing with every move of the head.. !!! The stones are in lovely condition and are bezel set and held between the hands.... I was advised they are real Amethyst but may also be paste.. .and they are beautifully faceted.. .. The stones measure 1/4" and are approx 1 carats in size and are a slightly OVAL SHAPE ...such an Elegant look.. with true Olde Worlde charm and grace.. Each earring is ROSE GOLD COLOR and has yellow gold embellishments consisting of rosebuds with that beautiful Etruscan style granulation. T is fine beading work on the internal center of the large hoop dangles.. To complete the picture are Etruscan style dangles that move with every turn ! They are for pierced ears and have french wires.. . .and weigh approx 8 grams. They are solid front and back but are holloware so wont weigh heavily on the ears.. Dont miss this lovely old pair...they can be worn with any outfit 24/7 ... The photos look very brassy but they are so lovely and shiny and the stones just set this off beautifully for a truly elegant look ...Please check my feedback so you may feel confident bidding with me. The only fault I can see is that one earring post at the top, is slightly different from the other,, which is not really noticeable when being worn. and the only other fault is one of the tiny Etruscan dangles at the base is missing..but you can simply remove one so that they have four each..or conversely purchase the brooch and transfer one of the dangles over to the earrings ! One french wire is a little out of round but can be put back into shape if required but is not necessary, Considering their vast age ..they really are in wonderful condition !
