2** FABULOUS ** c1880-VICTORIAN 18K ROLLED ROSE GOLD REPOUSSE SIGNET RING This a GORGEOUS Antique Victorian 18K Rose Gold Shell Repousse Signet ring...,,it has a raised oval cartouche that is flanked by deep repousse carvings of poppies and Fleur De Lis and not to be missed ! It has a hallmark inside that appears to be an Eagle head which is the symbol for French 18 karat gold. This is a NICE large ring and would suit a man or a woman. It is SOLID NOT HOLLOW and weighs approx 5 grams. A GORGEOUS ANTIQUE ROSE GOLD. THAT PINK ROSE GOLD SO HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER ! Please note any dark areas appearing on the gold are simply reflection only.. the photos were taken in full sunlight to give a true indication of its condition, but they came out very brassy looking. HISTORY I was advised this is Circa 1880 and it is from a British Estate ...I just fell in love with the rose gold REPOUSSE setting ....which is so ornate ! It is not stamped for gold content but t is what appears to be an eagle head hallmark flanked by arrows and I was advised this is 18 karat and of French Origin. .. It was sold to me as solid gold, but I think it is either rolled gold or rose gold shell.. The repousse design is so ornate it just sparkles with every turn... ! DESCRIPTION and SIZING The front measures over 1/2" in width and at the back the band measures 1/8" ... and it is a large ring approx a size 9 USA or S Australian.. It measures 3/4" diameter. I t is also a nice heavy ring as it is solid not hollow. It looks beautiful on the finger , so elegant...and the ornate REPOUSSE setting flanking the oval cartouche are a fabulous contrast and so eyecatching..... just a lovely heirloom ring that others will be sure to admire.....The blank cartouche is finely scratched on the surface which is consistent with its vast age , but once you have it engraved it will cover these surface scratches.. It weighs approx 5 grams.. ...and this further adds to its appeal ! These rings are highly sought after , and nowadays have enjoyed a revival for everyday wear T are no dings or dents .. and the only fault I can see is that it has been resized at some time, so its a tiny bit out of round.. but wonderful for its vast age.. and if polished will bring it up beautifully but will leave this to the new owner. The photos appear very brassy in color, but it was so overcast outside today, and it is a much pinker rose gold than depicted. Please note that while I do try to describe the items to the very best of my ability, all my items are either antique or vintage , so tfore are not brand new.
