You are bidding on very old Victorian calling card holder/ necklace. Victorian women would carry their "cards" in this around their necks and, if they came to call on person who was not home, would have a reminder to leave in the door or with someone in the household. It is a very diffrent and wonderful item, monogramed with an A, and has some minor scuff marks which I am sure will come out with a good cleaning and polishing. The metal is unmarked but is silver in tone. What a wonderful representation of the Victorian era! we are sell ing from the estate of a 97-year old Pennsylvania undertaker named Nigel "Stumpy" Alistair and his lovely bride (of 71 years) Constantine. We honestly do not know how Mr. Alistair obtained the nickname "Stumpy" (and admittedly we are afraid to ask), but have been informed that Mrs. Alistair acquired some of these pieces in lieu of payment for services rendered. The rest we will leave to your imagination. J Separate auctions will include a variety of glassware, as well as old vintage and antique jewelry. Some of the vintage and antique jewelry will be offered in lots, and some sold as individual pieces. This is an outstanding opportunity to obtain items from our outstanding inventory, or to build to your personal collection. All pieces are in good-to-excellent condition unless noted otherwise or sold in a scrap/repair lot. All lots will be described to the best of our ability. Earrings will count as one piece. Shipping for this item will be 3.50 within the Contiental USA. I am happy to combine to save on shipping fees. Most jewelry acutions can be combined for an additional .50 cents per auction. Glassware auctions will be combined and charged according to weight and zip code. You will only pay actual shipping, never a penny more. Shipping outside the Continental USA with insurance and delivery confirmation will start at 28.00 per package (per USPS quote).
