RARE VICTORIAN WHITBY JET CHAIN LINK NECKLACE This is a stunning Vulcanite chain necklace in wonderful condition with its original hook closure. Chain necklaces are somewhat commonly found but almost never in original condition such as this necklace. From end to end the necklace measures 21 inches with the hook itself being just over 1 inch in length. The beads are nice and thick and almost an inch in length and are in excellent condition. This vulcanite necklace looks especially close to Whitby Jet because of its finish. Most vulcanite is rather flat looking in color tone but this one is deep, rich black with the look of polishing that indicates Whitby jet. However, a hot needle test reveals that it is vulcanite and obviously a very high quality of vulcanite at that.
