You are viewing a beautifully ornate plant stand from the Victorian or Art Nouveau period. The first element of this wonderful antique is the Early American cast iron base, resting on three-claw feet. Then the post spirals up from the base, separated by clusters of ornamental leaf work. The spiraling post and leaf-work are not cast iron, and may be heavy stainless steel for they do exhibit a shiny silver appearance. The post is also separated at mid-point by a decorative cast iron urn. The three supports that hold the copper pail are also cast iron metal with beautiful curves and heavy ornamental tassels suspended from each. The cast iron components of this antique plant stand were once painted red and in some spots show heavy fading. The stand measures 49 inches high, the base is approximately 11 inches across, and the condition is solid, no cracks, no repairs. The copper pail came with this piece but we cannot be sure the two are original to each other. As always we pack items very safe for transit, and only charge actual shipping costs.. no extras.
