This is the one of the plates to one of the most beautiful MUSEUM QUALITY dessert sets that I have ever come across! I honestly, don't beleive it was ever used. For any Limoges lover, just seeing this set is a memory to be treasured and tucked away. I am selling these remaining pieces seperately as some of the pieces were unfortunately totally damaged when the estate packed them. So please see my other auctions and look at the close ups of the masterful artistry. FOR THE Limoges LOVERS from January 24, 1895 ... This is one of the most detailed and gorgeous pieces you will find. A true Victorian treasure! w to begin to describe this beauty.. this is a delicate antique Limoge plate. It is 100% hand painted with clusters of pink WILD ROSES and DAISIES with each cluster surrounded by , violets, wild flowers and foliage. The detail in the flowers is enhanced with raised enameling, this dimension truly makes the flowers "POP" to life. The original mold is a phenominal beauty unto itself. It features scalloped edges and an extremely eleborate raised detail near the edges. Note the raised wheat design (representing prosperity). The artist added the most intricate gilding to this raised detail. The scalloped edges are gilded also. Light gild loss . This piece is not signed, however the master charger is signed and dated by the extremely talented artist on the bottom, "L.G." Jan. 24, 1895 !!!! It is marked with the Martial Redon& Cie Limoges France Mark , which dates 1882 to 1896 (consistant with the artist's date). Size: 8" Condition: EXCELLENT original. No chips or cracks. SHIPPING: Is at actual USPS price plus $1.00 to help cover the cost of packing materials. Note: This set is painted by the same artist as the large Pansy tray that I listed also this week. That piece is signed "Louise". I do not have any more information about the artist. I received 3 dessert sets and they were all by this artist and each set was fabulous and appeared to have stored away and never used. Imagine how upsetting it was when I heard the rattling in the boxes from being poorly packed. I will try to get the next set listed sometime in the next week also. Remember this helpful hint~ Limoges is hard paste porcelain. It does not ever craze, that is one of the reasons why it is so valueable. So if you ever see a Limoges piece listed as having crazing, it is either not Limoges or it has a spider crack.I try to only show other pieces in the background that will be coming available or currently listed. If you love Limoges, please see my "ME" page and "sellers other auctions" for more hand painted Limoges and Bavaria beauties!
