This is a large bohemian garnet bird brooch. The bird measures over 2 1/2 inches in length by about 1 1/4 in height at its widest point. I do not know what the eye stone is, possibly an opal, but I can't really tell. There is one missing garnet below the lower wing which is barely noticeable but mentioned for accuracy. I've never seen one of these bird brooches this large; This is a substantial size. Email me with any questions.
