NICE OLD VICTORIAN BRASS BAG SUITCASE MATCH SAFE Presented is a fine antique brass match safe done in the form of a suitcase or bag. The bag is very nicely done with realistic straps around the sides and a handle on the top. It looks like an old doctor's bag. One end of the suitcase is hinged to form the lid. T is a striker on the underside of the suitcase. The match safe was made in the mid to late 1800s. We recently acquired a large collection of match safes which we will be listing individually in separate auctions. A few of these match safes are done in silver, but most of them are done in a variety of other materials including brass, copper, wood, and early plastics such as celluloid and gutta percha. They are all antique unless otherwise noted. We did not bother to clean the match safes up because we wanted to keep them as we found them. Most of these match safes are very clean, but they can be cleaned up even more, if so desired, but we will leave that up to the new owner. The condition is excellent. The hinged lid opens easily and snaps securely shut. The handle of the doctor's bag has clearly been soldered on, that I think this is the original construction. T are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The match safe measures 1/2 inch by 1 3/8 inches by 2 inches. Please scroll down or click to see photographs
