I have owned it for about 15 year, and never found out much about it. Even though I do the antique shows etc. and has been show cased many times hoping to get the right answer, it was not for sale. Most agree about the age, the gold is 18K or there about-unmarked (acid test verified by my bullion dealer), most think the clasp closure has been replaced/repaired many years ago, most likely a commissioned piece, the clear cabochon is glass or crystal and has some scratches. No one can agrees: Is it all painted, or painted and feathers? So small and delicate it is very hard to determine. By the tail and breast of the bird it looks opalescence, it may be from separation. Measures 1 3/4" by 1 2/5", weighs 15.8 grams. With the price of gold right now, my asking price is about what I can scrap the gold for!
