Man in Moon Carved Earrings
After years of searching I found these fabulous earrings. I had all the intention of keeping them, which I almost never do, but I cannot afford to keep them. So, I hope they find a nice home where someone appreciates this fine item. First I would like to note that some of the pics are taken in bright sunlight while others are taken with a flash. The flash shows details better but casts colors on the stone. Sunlight shows the stone color better but it's not as easy to see the beautiful carvings. Just put the 2 together and it's a fabulous pair of earrings. I have never seen this size and quality in a matched pair. I purchased them from a reputable dealer who tells me they are Victorian (c.1890) carved moonstones mounted in 14K yellow gold (unmarked). These button style earrings with posts come without backs, but that's an easy find. The gold has been polished and is nice for wearing. It's possible that the gold mountings may be newer than the carvings, I'm not sure. Approx 3/4" dia and 1/4" deep. Honestly I have run across a problem only once with an expensive piece of jewelry to an outlying area in Russia. I have a private insurance carrier and it's rarely an issue. All taxes, tariffs or customs fees are the responsibility of the buyer and are not a part of the shipping fees.
