This is a wonderful deeply carved alligator or crocodile with glass eyes. His mouth is open and he has sharp carved teeth, the inside of his mouth is stained red. He holds in his mouth two men, with black faces, wearing red Fez hats. One man is a propelling pencil and the other a page turner or letter opener. A clever idea for a pen holder. This is the original inspiration for the later celluloid ones. Condition very good, fine deep sharp carving. The end of the propelling pencil needs a bit of fixing. I am sure it is difficult to find this with the two original implements. The Crocodile Measures approximately 10” long and stands 2” tall. Victorian, circa 1880. Remember you are buying an Antique and not a Reproduction. . I GUARANTEE EVERY ITEM I SELL FOR HONESTY & ACCURACY. WILL SHIP WORLD WIDE. WILL COMBINE SHIPPING FEES.
