NO RESERVE on this CHARMING "CHRISTMAS FLASK" (one of the first store premium ideas). The CHARM of this bottle is not so much the bottle itself but what it represented...A little historic story: Fred Eberlein, a blacksmith from Bavaria, who settled in Fraser, Michigan (near Mt. Clemens, Michigan) in 1856, is credited with opening the first general store in the community. He also opened a blacksmith shop and a mill. In 1866 he sold the general store to Charles Knorr, it was sold again to a Charles Klein and then in early 1900 a young Frederick Schott went to work for Klein. Eventually Mr. Schott and Mr. Bloss became the new owners...this is w this bottle makes history. Back in those days, it was a well known fact that your local general store owner would give out, to his special customers, and as a token of appreciation for a year's patronage, a labeled pint of 'spirits' for the Christmas holiday. PLEASE SEE PICTURES. is a RARE EXAMPLE of that labeled bottle-measures, 7" tall x 3" wide. The label shows a jolly St. Nick (Santa Claus) and the words, ' A MERRY CHRISTMAS (and) A HAPPY NEW YEAR (the rest is missing). Below the image of Santa it reads, "Bloss & Schott FRASER (some letters worn away) MICH. (graphics pretty rudimentary for a label for that era-blurry but got the idea across).
