VICTORIAN COMBINATION CAST IRON FIREPLACE It is time now to clear out my cellar. For sale is a late Victorian cast iron fireplace. It stands 49” tall when measured to the mantle piece, the mantle piece is 36” wide and the fireplace is 30” wide when measured across the sides, it’s slightly wider at the base. It comes complete with original tiles, cast fireback with inset firebrick, which appears to have been repaired at sometime, ash grate and fully working retractable hood. The fireplace and tiles have been completely stripped of paint and the details of the castings and the pattern on the tiles are quite exquisite. There are some light rust patches showing through, but these will easily come off with a light application of a wire brush. There are no major chips or cracks on the castings, but one of the wall fixing lugs, top left hand side is damaged. This fireplace was purchased a few years ago for a house purchase which subsequently fell through and so is now surplus to requirements. There is no reserve on this fireplace. There are other similar fireplaces on EBAY at considerably higher prices, so this is a bargain.
