Victorian English cut glass and silver plate sardine box. Made by Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England, 19th century.
Measures 5 1/2inches long and 3 1/4inches high. Stands on 4 ornate openwork scrolling feet. Mounted in bands of beautifully embossed silver plate - very fine detail. Handle is identical to mounts. The lid is stepped with wonderful engraved foliage and centered by an attached seashell. The box itself is thick cut glass that iridises to a pale green under the black light. Marked underneath with Walker and Hall, Sheffield, England 1833, also a 9 and a 95. Very good condition.
