BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN DERBY SILVERPLATE CRANBERRY CASTOR SET SUGAR AND CREAMER SET CA. 1870 - 1890 Lovely authentic victorian silverplate sugar and creamer set made by the Derby silver co. out of Birmingham Connecticut. This set was made in the late 1800's and the victorian motif on the basket handle and around the parimeter of the holders is just beautiful. The set both have cranberry glass inserts. The glass insert for the creamer has a smallchip on the outer rim, othewise just fine. The glass insert for the basket is perfect, with no damgage whatsoever. The silverplating has a saft warm patina and we refrain from polishing any antiques since so many people have told us they prefer the aged look. They both have such colorful presence when in a cabinet. he both stand about 4.5 inches in height and they are both clearly hallmarked with the Derby logo and production serial numbers on the bottoms. This set is so very attractive and it would certainly compliment a holiday table setting or grace any collection. This set came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket. My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquinarian traveling the world. She loved antiques and taking care of them. Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisit pieces. I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques as much as she did.
