Thank you for visiting my auctions, everyone!!! Up for auction is this beautiful shimmering GENUINE diamond and garnet double heart 18k gold-filled Victorian ring. Size: 8 1/4 Description: It is not easy to come across these Victorian double heart rings, but 's a beauty in time for the holidays. The ring is shaped like double joined hearts topped by a bow, a popular motif in Victorian jewelry. The bow was intended to represent a crown of sorts, and a crowned heart represented "love triumphant". At first, I thought it was odd that genuine dimonds and garnets were set in a piece that was gold fill, but in doing further research, I discovered that while the early gold Victorian pieces were all 18 to 22 karat, and following the Stamp Act of 1854, gold content was standardized at 9, 12, or 15 karats, and required to be hallmarked and stamped as such. I knew that o ther popular metals of the time included silver, silver backed by gold, rolled gold plate and gold fill. Whenever diamonds were to be set, they were invariably set in white metal so as to enhance their natural beauty. So apparently, this was not unusual to set genuine stones in gold fill. Anyway, onto the specifics: To start, the ring is set with 32 sizeable, clear, white, fiery and sparkling diamonds. The largest, set in the center of the bow, is approx. 0.10 carats. The
