Victorian ~ Edwardian Antique EARRINGS with Finely Enamelled Gold on ONYX These beautiful earrings are a French-closure drop-style earring dating from the Victorian era or a bit later. The bevelled and polished Onyx disks which have been mounted in a finely constructed 18K Gold frame have been decorated with an Iconic symbol of the Victorian period - the buckled belt or ribbon-strap symbolizing life-long Friendship ~ the straps and buckles are engraved and intricately decorated with black & white enamelled embellishments over gold. Altho, they are in very fine vintage condition - there are a couple of issues with one of the earrings. As pictured, the back closure has been repaired/replaced, only the small solder attachment does not test for gold. On the same earring, there is a very fine 1/8 inch 'V' shaped crack on the front of the stone. It is very difficult to see, unless under very close scrutiny - nearly impossible to photograph - but needs mentioning and has been detailed in one of our labelled listing photos. These earrings will come boxed, but not in the box in the photo. Unmarked, as was typical of the Era. Except for the small hasp repair, the rest of the Gold content tests for 18k. Diameter is 3/4 inch. Length is 15/16 inch. Total weight is 6.2 grams.
