DESCRIPTION:
Wonderful Conta Boehme, Victorian, Fairing trinket box. The girl on the fireplace mantel is looking into the mirror. Cup and saucer and pitcher on mantel beside her. This has the Conta Boehme shield and model number 2909 impressed on the cover. The design for this box was probably taken from the English author, Lewis Carroll, who wrote the storybook called Alice Through the Looking Glass. This is a common box if the girl's hair is black, it is much more rare when the girl's hair is blonde. The box is listed in Janice and Roger's books: Victorian Trinket Boxes on page 106; and Conta Boehme Porcelain on page 250. The trinket box is 3 inches long, 2 1/4 inches wide and 4 inches tall, making this box the largest size of three boxes made by Conta Boehme. CONDITION: The gold trim shows some wear. T is a firing crack on the back of the mirror. It could be a repair, but the crack cannot be seen from the front of the box. I'm almost positive it is a firing crack. T is no mirror on this box, but you could add one easily. This would be a wonderful gift for a young girl who loves Alice in Wonderland. These fairing boxes are very fragile and it sure is hard to find one that is perfect. SHIPPING AND HANDLING: I prefer money orders or personal checks, but I do accept PayPal. Handling charge for Canada, Europe, United Kingdom is $10.00. My shipping is very professional and I wrap every thing in bubble wrap or other safe shipping materials and double box when necessary. INSURANCE IS REQUIRED! SHIPPING DISCOUNTS FOR MORE THAN ONE ITEM.
