Wonderful antique fairing trinket box in china or porcelain. It is a figure of a man resting on a sofa. He looks fat and well dressed. All he needs is a big cigar. Fairings were prizes and gifts for purchase at fairs in the second half of the 19th century. This one is unmarked except for some numbers scratched on the bottom and a little bit of painted gold marking. It shows a good bit of wear of the paint on the sofa pillows and his pants. There are also 3 firing cracks, one on his leg, one on the front of the sofa, and the other on his neck. And one chip on the bottom of a corner of the lid. He mesures 2 1/4" tall, almost 3" long, and 1 3/4" long. PayPal is the only method of payment accepted for international sales. Contact me for other domestic payment methods.
