Most of my sales to date have been items from the family estate left to me or merchandise I bought at the closing of the Original J. Peterman Company in 2000. But once in awhile, when I'm out exploring, I come across something that catches my eye or piques my interest that I can offer to you. Victorian Figural Cast Iron And Porcelain Mantle Ewer What a beautiful Victorian piece. T are few condition problems, which are mostly noted in the Bronze gilt paint that has worn. Examine the photos closely and note that the Ornate casting has lost the gilt over time, but the design and figurals are in very good detail. I see casting lines from the missing paint wear as mostly noted on the footing. In general, the Ewer is in good Antique condition and has retained beautiful character. The Victorian Ewer stands 14 inches tall with a delicate yellowed Ivory Porcelain basin. The basin is adorned with floral transfers featuring soft shades of Pink, Lavender, Violet, and Moss green. The Porcelain has no chips, cracks or hairlines and the decor is well in tact. The Cast Iron Ewer top with handle, neck, and footing are very detailed with elaborate scrolling and ornate design. I attempted to capture the figure heads with-in the fine design. The entire piece is 5 separate pieces bolted together by a long rod that is bolted under the footing. The Victorian piece is quite the eye catcher, and being honest, I might not mind if it sold. On occasion, I find an item that really has personality and potential History that I consider keeping. But, if I did that each time, my modest home would be a bit overpopulated with Antiques and Vintage Treasures.
