This humorous elephant humidor most likely dates to the late Victorian period when t were many majolica figural humidors that were made. This is just as whimsical as the majolica pieces but was most likely made by W S & S Company or possibly Bernard Bloch. It is terra cotta with a cold painting and is in good condition with a little wear to the paint. T are no chips, cracks or repairs and he's one of the largest pieces that I've seen measuring 10 1/2" high. The look on his face is priceless - he really is quite grumpy with his tusk ache and a huge slab of meat tied on to it. He is not marked but the painting is typical of Wilhelm Schiller's work so I would have a tendency to believe that it was made by that company. I do accept paypal but please understand that even though the money is taken out of your account immediately - it does not clear in my bank until three business days later and the paypal echecks take even longer. I prefer checks because of the cost of paypal so please keep that in mind. I will email invoices at the completion of the auction and would appreciate an email stating that you received this information. My shipping costs reflect the cost of bubble wrap and shipping peanuts so please understand that I do have to pay for these supplies and they are part of the cost of shipping.
