RARE FIGURAL NAPKIN RING OF CHERUB WITH BUD VASE BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN FIGURAL SILVERPLATE NAPKIN RING CA. 1870 - 1890 For those of you who collect figural napkin rings, you know how difficult it is to find cherub bud vase holder with the glass insert. It was made by the Reed & Barton SilverCo. out of New Bedford, Massachusetts in the late 1800's. It is clearly hallmarked on the bottom of the base with the production number 1285 and the maker Reed & Barton. The silverplate looks to be very good with some minor tarnish from lack of polishing for a long time. This sat in my Aunt's display cabinets for over 60 years. As always, we refrain from polishing or removing the aged patina as many collectors prefer it. This napkin ring is prominantly displayed on page 126 of the "Figural Napkin Rings Collector's Identificationand Value Guide" published by Lillian Gottschalk and Sandra Whitson in 1996. I have not set a reserve as I think that spoils the auction atmosp, but I hope collectors recognize this as a good antique. The ring is a nice circular shape without any dents or damage. The glass insert is also in perfect condition. Hard to find these 125 year old napkin rings in such lovely condition. This would certainly compliment any figural napkin ring or Master salt collection and it would look lovely if placed upon one of our upcoming holiday table settings. PERFECT FOR THE DISCRIMINATING COLLECTOR. LOVELY HOLIDAY GIFT This napkin ring came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket. My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquinarian traveling the world. She loved antiques and taking care of them. Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisit pieces. I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques as much as she did.
