LOVELY AUTHENTIC FIGURAL VICTORIAN EPERGNE VASE HOLDER YOUNG DEER STANDING NEXT TO TREE IN GARDEN CA. 1870 - 1890 This is an authentic silverplate victorian figural vase holder or epergne that was made by the Meriden Silver company out of Meriden Connecticut during the victorian period in the late 1800's. It depicts a young deer standing in a glade next to a tree stump. Lovely floral and ferns on the base. This is a lovely item, but as you can see it needs some new silverplate I think. I cannot tell if this is just tarnished or or if it is an aged old patina. Either way, she needs a good cleaning. She is clearly hallmarked on the bottom withthe Meriden logo and the production number #207. It stands at just over 4 inchesin height and is about 3.5 inches in diameter. Anyone have a glass insert for this. I suppose it might also be a toothpick holder?? My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquinarian traveling the world. She loved antiques and taking care of them. This particular castor set is part of her collection and she took very good care of her antiques. Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisit pieces. I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques as much as she did.
