What an exquisite piece this is!! This too is a wonderfully hand carved conch shell cameo. It measures 2"L x 1 5/8"w x 1/2"d and weighs 14.2grs. This is stamped on the back-14K and dates from the turn of the century 1910. The portrait is Grecian in appearance, with the clasic straight nose and somewhat thick neck. Her hair is pulled back and in an upsweep, with flowers at the top of her head and also in the back. Her eyes seem to be looking up, as if she is watching something, and a very slight smile shows on her mouth. She has been carved with fine delicate features, as you will see in the photos. Her dress is that of the period with a softly draped neckline and a single flower adorns her left shoulder. She wear a necklace and earring, each is set with rose cut diamond. A .03pt in the earring and a .10pt in the heart shaped necklace. The Octillion shaped frame is just lovely, with delicate filigree work that surrounds the cameo. You will see little solid designs that accent each of the joining pointed areas. The pin on the back is still nice and straight, with a safety lock for added security. T is also a flip-up bale, so this can be placed on a chain and worn as a pendant. Always use the pin to secure the pendant when worn on a chain, as this keeps it from swinging out when you lean over and banging into something. This will help read more
