This is another Victorian item, probably made by Stevens & Williams, that is every bit as beautiful as the overshot example I also have available for purchase. The body of the shell features small spatters of amethyst glass embedded in clear glass. The clear parts of the surface actually have a golden cast, and I cant tell if this is the result of the iridescence alone, or if the surface was treated before the amethyst glass was marvered in. The shell sits on two, green glass, hand tooled feet that have a nice organic feel to them, suggesting waving leaves of kelp. The entire vase has a perfectly applied iridescence that gives the piece a very rich luster. The shell was blown from the top and has a ground rim that is free of chips (the entire piece is free of damage). The last picture shows two other shells from the same maker, one of which is still available. As with all of my items, this vase can be returned for a full refund if you are not completely satisfied.
