A Victorian evening bag! Comprised of dark brown leather, a brass repousse edge and metal edged coin purse. The perfect bag to take to a concert. The interior is neatly organized into 5 separate compartments. The central compartment appears to have been created for coins and money. It has a metal frame and a nice metal latch to keep it safely closed. In one of the compartments is a tiny little lace edged hanky and a button hook. In another is a ticket dated Nov. 30, 1893 for the T.K. Quartette. It must have been a most special event for the owner to have saved the ticket. This purse was purchased with the above items inside. The lace edged hanky is somewhat the worse for wear with a few stains but no tears. 5 3/4 inches square. The button hook is metal and has a few spots of tarnish. The purse closes with a beautiful brass button latch that is in excellent working condition. The brass repousse edge features an ornate floral pattern. On the inside edge, the purse reads, Max Meyer & Bro. Omaha NEB. Very good condition. The brass is in perfect condition as is the metal edge of the coin purse compartment. The leather inside the coin purse is torn at the bottom and there is also a small tear at the back opening edge of the purse, only on the inside. All of the leather inside shows scuffing and signs of wear. These problems are not visible from the outside of the little purse which is in nearly perfect condition with only a small amount of wear to the leather at the sides. A bit musty smelling. Circa: 1800's. Composition: Leather, brass and metal. Size: 6 inches x 2 1/4 inches.
