VICTORIAN MAHOGANY CHEST OF 6 DRAWERS INCLUDING A HIDDEN/SECRET DRAWER Description We are offering A lovely Victorian Mahogany Chest of 6 Drawers. This super example looks like a standard chest of 5 drawers in the configuration of the small drawers over 3 long drawers however this chest benefits from what is sometimes called a secret drawer,this drawer is in the frieze above the 2 small drawers and does not have any obvious handles.To open it there are 2 half cup pulls to the underside of the drawer. Condition wise this chest is in fair to good condition,it could benefit and has already had some touching up to a few bits of veneer and there is a small bit at the top of the one pillar that is slightly loose.,a few odd scratches here and there along with the need for some gentle wax polish.The base of the bottom drawer could also do with a little bit of attention to strengthen it, The drawer sides and bases are made of elm and feature handcut dovetails,both of these are a sign of a slightly better quality chest than a standard one. Sizes approximately 46" wide by 22" deep by 44 1/2" high. It would be a shame to give this a shabby chic paint job however this is becoming very much the fashion and a chest like this lends itself well to a makeover.
