This auction is for a Seth Thomas model 89C Victorian mantleclock with an imitation marble finish made from celluloid . T are no longer any markings on the dial face, however, the inner mechanism is stamped with an SM inside a diamond all surrounded by a circle. Some research indicates this is a Seth Thomas Adamantine clock. It has 6 columns, three on each side. T are ornate copper (or copper plated) lion heads on each side with a ring in each nose. The pillars have copper top and base and the legs are copper. T is a chip in the veneer on the front left corner just above the ornate leg. No other chips or breaks. The mechanism works fine. I wound it slightly and the pendulum keeps time and the chimes work. It has two different chimes, a gong for the top of the hour and a bell for the bottom of the hour. It measures 18 inches wide at the feet, 11 inches tall, and 7 inches deep. While everything seems to work fine I believe it will need some adjustments and a cleaning to bring it to full luster and operation. The chime hammers are not properly aligned. This item originally came from up-state New York . This is a fine example of the Victorian styling and an excellent collector's item. The item is sold as-is with no returns .
