I Have to Offer a

Victorian Mary Gregory Type Glass Enamel Perfume Bottle

This is a gorgeous Mary Gregory style clear glass perfume bottle. It is approx. 4 1/4 inches in height with the stopper. Heavy weight, it does have few air bubbles in the glass which was common in vintage glass. The top inside of bottle and bottom of stopper does need to be cleaned, I will leave that to the new owner. I am guessing this was made in the late 1800's to early 1900's? The style of glass leads me to believe it is of European design which would fit with the Bohemian history of Mary Gregory design. Other then a very tiny chip in the rim of the stopper, that can barely be seen, it is in wonderful vintage condition.

This was among several items, including Jewelry, Pictures and a Leather Journal that were discovered inside an Ancient Jewelry Box Chest that I purchased from a Local City Auction.

All of the items that were auctioned off this night were said to have come from the Estate of an elderly woman, named Rosa, who had recently crossed over to the other side at the age of 93. She had no known surviving family members so her house & all her belongings were auctioned off by the city.

An elderly man sitting next to me at the auction said that Rosa, her Mother & Grandmother, before her, were lifelong resident to the city of Cassadaga, Florida.

I was astonished when he mentioned Cassadaga! I myself, make frequent visits to the serene little town. The surroundings t bring me such great comfort and a sense of tranquility.

Cassadaga exists as an entity unto itself way off Interstate 4 (you wonâe(tm)t find it unless youâe(tm)re looking for it) between Orlando and Daytona Beach.

Its founder, George Colby, was led by three spirit guides through the wilderness to what is now the site of the Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. On that site, the guides instructed him to organize a psychic center, which was completed in 1898.

It is a place like no other, w mediums, psychics, astrologers and spiritualists can live in peace without interference from the world outside their gates. The tiny Spiritual Camp (population: 100) remains largely as it did in the 1920âe(tm)s. The Spanish Mission-style Cassadaga Hotel, which is not an official part of the camp, dominates the landscape at the camp entrance. Modest two-story cottages line the dozen or so paved streets and dirt roads. T is no grocery store, no pharmacy, gas station, bank, or dry cleaners. The shoebox-sized post office sits across the street from the camp gates.

Other than the light-topped gateposts gracing the main entry and the Colby Memorial Temple, site of meditation meetings, public readings, church services and healings, t is nothing to distinguish Cassadaga from any other small Southern town.

Inside the camp, stuck out on lush green lawns or hanging from mossy oaks, unpretentious homemade shingles advertise that "Certified Mediums," "Psychic Healers," or "Spiritual Counselors" reside within.
