BEAUTIFUL AUTHENTIC VICTORIAN CONDIMENT SET Ornate Floral and Butterfly Motif CA. 1870 - 1890 This is a rare victorian condiment set in a silver plate castor made by the Simpson Hall and Miller Silver Co. out of Wallingford Connectiocut in the late 1800's. This set is hard to find complete with the original 3 castor bottles, all of which are decoratively hand painted with butterflies. The glass inserts I believe may be Mt. Washington, C.F. Monroe, or possibly Pairpoint. It is a beautiful set. The holder is in fine condition with decorative feet on the base and it is clearly hallmarked on the bottom with the Simpson Hall and Miller logo and production numbers. We did not polish it and left it with the aged old patina which so many buyers have told us they prefer which gives it thenatural antique look....but I would imagine this might polish up nicely if you want to clean it.Would make a wonderful addition to a Thanksgiving or upcoming holiday table setting. It is just so enjoyable to look upon. This set came out of my Aunt's estate on Nantucket. We will be selling her entire collection of picklcastors, castor sets, and other victorian items. As you can see from our feedback, people have been delighted with their purchases from her collection. My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquinarian traveling the world. She loved antiques and taking care of them. Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisite pieces. I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques as much as she did.
