Here is a wonderful walnut and ebonized Renaissance Revival Victorian music cabinet. The stand has a shaped top with canted corners and moulded edge. The front corners have applied carvings and raised panels. Notice the incredible carvings on the door. There is very obviously a musical motif, which is designated by the carved horn, harp and pan flute, which are gathered by the realistically carved bow and tassel. The detail and crispness in the carvings are impressive. In addition, there is gold incised foliate carvings encircling the instruments and above the door. The entire door panel is burled walnut. Inside are 2 shelves and the door has its original working lock and a key. The case has recessed panel sides and rests on ornately turned and carved legs. There is an additional open shaped shelf below. Notice the dramatic use of ebonized trim throughout the piece. The cabinet retains its original finish, which is in excellent condition. This music stand had a back crest at one time, but has long since disappeared. This is not at all obvious and does not distract from its quality and presence.
