A superb Victorian oak twin pedestal desk with nine drawers, c1870, in excellent condition and with a newly-fitted burgundy leather skiver with gold tooling. The desk has a lovely colour and excellent finish. All nine drawers have full mahogany linings with fine, hand-cut dovetail joints. The drawers are all strong and run well. All original inset escutcheons are in place and all locks, except one. The brass ring pull handles are in excellent condition and are an Edwardian addition. The twin pedestals are in good shape, with no shrinkage splits and they rest on original brass and ceramic castors, so the desk can be moved with ease. It splits into three parts for transportation, the top lifting off blocks on top of each pedestal.Dimensions: width 52ins, depth 25ins, height 29ins, knee height 22.75ins, knee width 25ins.I can arrange delivery if required.
