FINE 93 DRAWER VICTORIAN OAK APOTHECRAY/HARDWARE CABINET ON LARGE CUSTOM MADE OAK BOOKCASE BASE WE NEED TO MOVE THIS ITEM-HUGE INCOMING ESTATE FORCES US TO SACRAFICE THIS GREAT PIECE!!! With our most sincere compliments we are pleased to present you with this rare Victorian oak hardware/apothecary cabinet. When we encountered this piece it was stuffed full of a vintage baseball card collection. This cabinet worked excellent for housing this collection. Please don't ask, the entire collection is going off to an auction house for an important American sports memorabilia. That was the deal we made with the parties to this estate. This place was loaded and we removed some of the best finds of this year from this home. This large apothecary/hardware cabinet has two top banks of 8 drawers measuring 8 ½" X 3" (7 ½"X 2 ¾") actual inside drawer size and then 80 drawers that are 4 ½" X 3" (3 ½" X 2 ¾" actual inside size. The bottom of this cabinet has 2 4 ¼" X 5") and 3-8 ½" X 5" drawers. This cabinet sits on top of a custom made oak open front bookcase with nice base moldings which contains 2 solid book shelves that housed a small reference library on the baseball cards this cabinet used to house. This cabinet on the base stands 31 1/2" high, 41 ½" long and 16" wide. The actual apothecary cabinet by itself is 50 ½" high, 40" long and 13 " wide. The entire cabinet will stand 82" high when assembled on its base This model works very nicely and is in great condition. FURNITURE WOODS 101 We get a lot of questions on whether or not the furniture we list is comprised of solid wood or veneered. We would like to take this opportunity to give our customers a brief explanation of the construction of antique furniture. Most specialty cuts of wood i.e., tiger maple, bird's eye maple, tiger oak (a.k.a. quarter sawn) crotched mahogany, Cuban mahogany, burled walnut, flame birch, flame cherry, etc., are applied to furniture via veneers. These choice cuts of woods are prohibitively expensive that they very rarely used these in solid wood form. However, t were exceptions to this. When we are fortunate to encounter one of these exceptions, we try to be clear in identifying the solid wood construction. In most cases, these woods are no longer available at any price. If our listing doesn't state that it is made of solid wood, then the furniture was made from a combination of veneers and solid secondary woods. We list the specialty woods in our listings first, as that is the most prominent feature. Please read descriptions carefully and look at all photos. Ask any questions that you may still have. Requests of additional photos are encouraged, as we are limited to the amount of space allocated for photos. We hope this clarifies for you some of the mystique involved with buying antique and vintage furniture.
