Welcome and thank you for visiting Sweet Home Chicago Antiques! This listing is for a gorgeous brides basket bowl stylized with a 5-point star in blue enamel flowers. I had this bowl paired with an antique stand, but have decided to let the bowl stand on its own. It's certainly pretty enough to attract plenty of attention. The heavily ruffled edge is accentuated by a scallops or flutes. This gives the bowl vast appeal, as it looks extraordinary in a frame or a stand. In addition, the ruffles are adorned by a clear crest which encircles the entire rim. The beauty of that clear crest is that it captures and disperses light across the face of this art glass. I also tried to show in a couple of closeups the yellow flowers which were applied using thick and thin layers of enamel. This was created in multiple applications prior to the firing process. The coloring of the inside casing begins as a soft opal white that extends up the side walls until it begins to deepen into a light rose-pink. The rose-pink reaches for the crest as it intensifies. The outer layer - or underside - is cased in soft opal white. This is a feminine bowl that is dripping in decadence. My third time going over this bowl with a jeweler's loupe I found one Small flea bite on the crest (felt more than seen actually), and I do mean small. Other than that, I've found no chips, cracks, flakes or signs of repair. This is lovely thin Victorian glass that allows you to see the shadow of your hand behind it when held to the light. Tap the sides gently with your fingertips, and you'll be rewarded with the resonant church bell sound we associate with antique glass. The touch of the glass is cool, smooth and soft. You will find some wear to the gilt leaves, frit inclusions, a few tool marks and small stretch marks - all of which is normal and expected in antique glass. Please feel free to email should you have particular concerns and/or wish to see additional photos. The underside of the foot has a few marks which may clean off with a soft paste made from Bon Ami. Overall the bowl measures approximately 10-1/4" diameter at the ruffled crest. It stands about 3-1/2" tall at the top of a ruffle, and the foot measures approximately 2-7/8" diameter. This is a heavenly antique piece to add to your collection, and the draping 5-point star is so fitting for the Holiday season. We're going to share the Priority shipping cost with you, and will fully insure this beauty. Feel free to email any questions or requests, and we'll try to have your answer within 24 hours. Your business is very much appreciated. We pack carefully and ship fast. This brides basket bowl will be shipped double-boxed to ensure safe transport. International bidders are quite welcome to participate, but do keep in mind that Customs documents are prepared in accordance with prevailing laws and in the full sale amount. Thanks again for visiting Sweet Home Chicago Antiques! Please take a moment to view our other listings, and always be sure to Have Fun while you're on eBay! NOTE: If you have low or no feedback, you're really going to want to contact us in advance of bidding or risk having your transaction canceled. We're sorry about that, but the categories have been fraught with fake bidders this Holiday season.
