Victorian Quadruple Plate Sugar & Creamer Set Superior Silver Co. #7004 This is an absolutely charming antique silverplate sugar bowl and creamer set. I don't think this set had been polished for many, many years, and it was almost black when I bought it. I've since polished this set, leaving just a little age shading, as I think it looks beautiful like that. However, you could continue polishing if you prefer an all-over-bright look. This set is by Superior Silver Co., and I found evidence of only six or eight patterns by this maker. But t were some references that indicate it may have been absorbed by Wilcox Silver or International Silver in the early 20th century. I would estimate that this sugar and creamer most likely date between 1890 and 1920. This is a wonderfully lush and Victorian-style pattern. Both pieces are lobed, and have fanciful handles that sweep gracefully to a curling top. The cream pitcher's spout is decorated with raised plumes, and both pieces have tiny beading all around the top rim. The pieces have hand chased engraving, front and back - plumes and furls surrounding an area that could take a monogram (no monogram on these pieces, though.) Both pieces are marked on the bottom "SUPERIOR SILVER CO., QUADRUPLE, MADE IN U.S. AMERICA, 7004." The creamer also has "GILT" so this piece may have had a gold coating
