Victorian Seth Thomas Mantel Clock, circa 1890 Description: This is a neat old clock from the Victorian era, circa 1890. It is some sort of white metal, possibly cast iron. The maker is Seth Thomas. The clock measures 9 inches tall by 7 inches wide by 3 inches deep. It has been sitting on a closet shelf for about 10 years and it's time to clean out the closets and make some room. So is an opportunity for you to buy a nice old clock that would look great on your mantel over the fireplace or on your bedroom dresser. I believe this clock does have an alarm mechanism, but since this has been sitting in a closet for so long, it may need some cleaning & oiling or what ever a clockmaker type person does to these. The metal also has some discoloration, wear and tarnishing which looks normal to me, but I did not try to clean this with anything. The back plate is brass colored....I don't know if this is brass or not, but it's that color. It has a dent at the top of the back plate. T are two winding keys on the back plate....I am guessing one for setting the time and one for winding the clock. T are also two other posts on the back w it looks like you would put a winding key. The back plate is also marked "Made in America". The bell on the underside is an old fashioned metal style (you know the type) and it is a tarnished brown color. No read more
