This excellent red velvetsewing box features a nice oval beveled mirror inside. I like the nice shape of the box. The interior is red satin, and the bottom has thick quilted padding. The brass latch works but there is no key, so it can be securely snapped closed and the latch will open it, but it cannot be locked. The piece stands true on four brass “ball” feet. The top has a fine and very attractive brass embellishment. There are two little triangular compartments inside that open. There is an ink stain inside, as well as handling wear to the velvet on the outside (both pictured), but there are no tears or missing material. The implements are all held in place with little satin loops. All of the tools shown, including the very nice sterling thimble, came with the box when I purchased it, but I cannot vouch for whether or not they are original to the box, but there are no loops without a tool snugly inside. The high-quality cut crystal containers are not perfect, and unfortunately have some chips, but they are still very pretty. All other sewing tools are in excellent condition.
