Victorian Silver Boutonniere Posy Flower Holder Royal Coat of ArmsMotto and Royal Coat of Arms EnglandThe Official Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern IrelandThis is an uncommon antique Victorian boutonniere or pocket flower holder dating from c.1930's ( it has a patent number on the pin back). This measures approx 3 1/4" long x 1 1/4" across x approx 1/2" deep. I can find no sterling hallmark but the piece really needs a good cleaning.the front is a highly detailed portrait of a crest flanked by a standing lion and unicorn with a cannon at the bottom and there is a crown at the top which also appears to have a standing lion. The coat features both the motto of British Monarchs:Dieu et mon droit(God and my right)and the motto of the Order of the Garter:Honi soit qui mal y pense('Evil to him who evil thinks')..It is an incredible pin..The pin back does appear slightly newer than the flower holder perhaps it was added at a later time. I would have placed this piece mid to late 1800's. Please allow the photos to guide you in the description, however if you need to e-mail me feel free to do so. Shipping is First Class with tracking.
