I am a retired antiques dealer who is selling the remainder of his stock through EBay. This is a very good example of a victorian silver cased pocket watch by a respected maker. It has dual hinged back covers each of which is hall marked with the date codes for London 1893. Each cover also bears the mark of JW Benson, the maker. The brass back plate is engraved 'The Keyless Ludgate Watch - JW Benson - Patent No 4658 - Ludgate Hill, London'. The Roman dial is also signed ' JW Benson, London' and is in excellent condition with no hairlines, with spade and poker black hour and minute hands. As per the name, this watch is not wound by a key, but by a winding button and stem. This is a fine example of a high quality English made silver pocket watch, in excellent condition and fully original. It is by an important maker, well renowned, and very collectable. It is in full working condition, the face is not scratched, although the case shows very slight signs of wear. It is in its original JW Benson's box.
