This Victorian Stamp Holder case is interesting! I was able to research the hallmarks inside. It is from Birmingham, England and was made between 1908-1908. 100 years old! It has a registered number and a maker's mark that looks like "ARJ". It is not marked sterling. I took it to a jeweler friend and he wanted to cut into it to test it. I said "no way". I think it is silver, but will list it as silver plate . The case measures 1 inch wide by 1 1/4 inch tall. It is engraved on both sides. One side has initials, I think they are "NL" or "NS". T are no dings or deep dents. The centers of each side are a little concave. I do not know if that is the way it was made or from 2 fingers pushing on it to close it. The case closes tightly and is in great condition. Thanks for looking! As we are selling items donated to us, we will do our best to describe the item accurately as possible.
