LOVELY VICTORIAN NEW HAVEN SILVER CO. CASTER CONDIMENT SET GORGEOUS SET OF 5 MATCHING CRYSTAL BLUE CRUETS CA. 1870 - 1890 This is a lovely Castor set made by the New Haven Silver company in the late 1800's in Lyons New York. What makes this set so unique is the style and color of castor cruet bottles in the frame...not often do we see this color on ebay...soft light blue. The bottles all have a snowflake or star pattern with what looks like small hobnails. Just precious! Allthe bottles are in excellent condition as are the stoppers in the bottles. The only damage I can find is the corrosion on the caps of the salt and pepper bottles which as I understand it, was quite common. These I imagine could be replaced with better looking lids. The set displays wonderfully. It is almost 17 inches in height and has a gorgious victorian motif handle that is so exquisit. The silverplating is shiney but still carries a bit of patina and wear...and we always state in our listings that we refrain from polishing these sets as many of you have asked us to keep the aged patina. I think it would definately make a statement in any formal setting especially on a holiday table setting. My Aunt was a nurse in WW1 stationed in France and then spent years as an artist and antiquinarian traveling the world. She loved antiques and taking care of them. Please view my other items as we are selling her home belongings over the coming year and she has some exquisit pieces. I hope this goes to a nice home that loves antiques as much as she did.
