This auction is for a Victorian silverplate covered pie/pastry tray marked with Makers mark Acme Silverplate Co. Toronto, Boston, Mass. I found a reference to this mark as the company being reported to have made plated silverware c1885, also marked Hard White Meal #152 11. I believe this was a pie or pastry tray used for serving during their afternoon teas. Very beautifully designed and decorated, this is in as found condition, has that nice dark patina which is associated with Victorian silverplate. cover has a raised Floral design, I think they call this method stamping, with hand chaising to finish and highlight the design, the finial has swirled raised ribbing,the cover has a highly decorative band of engraved/embossed swirled feather like pattern, garooned decorated band above, the bottom tray has a pie crust ribbed design, might also be considered garooned border. Bottom plate/tray measures 11 inches in diameter, about 1 inch deep, the cover opening is 9 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep, this weighs a little over 3 lbs. T is some slight color variation on the top cover, the photos because of the lighting accentuated this, t is just an area w the silver is a lighter shade then other areas.
