BEAUTIFUL AUTHENTIC VICTORIAN SILVERPLATE PICKLE CASTOR Lovely RARE Victorian Side handled Ornate Castor Frame with Fork Support and Stunning Cased Glass Insert with Floral Motif and lovely pink hue on the Inside ca. 1880 This is a beautiful Pickle Castor...and the only one in my Aunt's collection with such a neat looking glass insert and side handled frame. Just great presence and so attractive. The glass insert ( in perfect condition) is what I believe they called Cased glass with a pearl white glass on the outside and a lovely pink glass on the inside. T is also a lovely hand painted floral pattern on the outside surface which gives this castor set such wonderful presentation. The lovely and ornate pickle castor was made by the Middletown Silver Co. in Middletown Connecticut in the late 1800's. The castor set stands at just over 10 inches in height and the stand is clearly hallmarked on the bottom. The glass insert is in perfect condition and the silverplating also looks excellent on the stand and the lid. The pictures clearly show you just how beautiful this set really is. The base of the stand that holds the insert is approximately 3.25 inches in diameter and the glass insert is 3.0 inches in diameter. The pickle fork may have been added since it was made by the Holmes Silver Co. but this too only adds to the beauty of the set, as this fork is very unique. The hallmarks on the bottom incluse the Middeltown logo, production numbers, quadrouple plating, and metal stamp. Please look at the pictures. This pickle castor would certainly compliment any home decor or holiday setting and meet the rigerous demands of any discriminating collector. Thank you for bidding. We hope this goes to a nice home. NO RESERVE As noted in my other auctions, I am not a dealer or in the antique business. I am selling some collections that came out of my Aunt's home on Nantucket Island, Mass. She collected antiques and traveled the world from 1905-1948 as a nurse. She was an artist and lover of poetry and it is our hope that these items my family is selling, will go to homes that appreciate antiquities as did my Aunt. My goal is to exceed your expectations. Please email me with your questions or concerns. Please do not wait until after you have bid and/or won the auction to contact me with your inquiries. It is impossible for me to be an expert on the items I am selling so I do my very best to describe the items in detail and I take several pictures. I realize the condition of an item can vary depending on the person who is looking at it, so I am depending on you to ask specific questions if I have not given you enough details or should you like to correct something that I may have stated incorrectly. I welcome any help or knowledge you can share with me. Please read the entire description and look at the pictures carefully prior to bidding. It also helps it you can e-mail me with any questions 24 hrs prior to the close of the auction. My aim is to give all of you an honest and accurate description of the items my family is listing As in any live auction, it is the potential bidders responsiblity to be completely informed about what they are bidding on. I guarantee my items to be as described and photographed. My Aunt's collections also came from purchases she made in her hunt for fine antiquities, and as such, many of the items I place for auction, have been a part of other peoples lives so scratches, dings, dents, chips and cracks, etc. are to be expected. Knowing this I attempt to describe these imperfections as I find them. I am a VERY honest seller so you may bid without concern. Shipping and Payment Information Successful bidder will pay shipping and handling fees. I try to keep shipping and handling to a minimum, but please realize that these costs include packing material, time, and driving to and from the post office. We try to break even on shipping. We recycle shipping supplies as much as possible, so if you get a box ...
