This is a large 12.5" tall Victorian pictorial & roses vase measuring 7" across at the widest point produced by the Staffordshire Potteries bearing just half of the potters mark on the underside with A (initial of name) L for Longton Staffordshire and England. This would have been produced between 1891 -1910 (it also has the pattern name of ROSE embossed into the underside). The front of the vase has a pictorial scene of a woman feeding chickens with cattle and a dog, a lake to the left and a cottage in the background and the back of the vase has a rose design (some flaws to parts of the transfer on these - see photo 2) and this is produced against a creamy yellow ground in the middle of the vase with the top and bottom being a warmer orange shade. (The blush colours are deeper/brighter than the photos portray) The front of the vase has been gilded although there is wear to this gilding commensurate with its 100+ year age. This vase is in very good condition with no chips or cracks but there is faint age related crazing to the glaze - it displays beautifully. Check out my other items ! Bid Now!
