This lovely authentic Victorian portrait easel or artist's easel is in very good to excellent condition, with the exception of the break in the cross bar that the back leg inserts into. Please see the photo...this can be securely reglued and perhaps covered up with a piece of gingerbread or trim, but that will be up to the new owner. This damage does not interfere with the strength of the rest of the piece, and t are no other breaks or loose areas. This damage was done recently by an anonomous person who really must have applied terrific force to do this, as this easel is made by Victorian standards and is well constructed and strong, with no rotting wood or dried out glues. I'm not sure what type of wood was used, but the legs are a beautifully turned spindle type, with all the original sticks and balls, original brass hardware for holding the painting or picture, including the original brass chain to secure the third leg to the rest of the piece. Naturally, due to its age, some of the original finish is a little dry and it could be easilly refreshed with a good coat of beeswax or other varnish type. I do no repairs or adjustments so that the buyer gets the article in the most original condition possible. This is a rare and elegant piece of Victoriana, standing 70" tall. Bottom legs are about 24" apart and the top is about 14"
