VICTORIAN TAPESTRY BRASS SEED PEARL & CARNELIAN GEMSTONE LADIES EVENING PURSE Beautiful Victorian Tapestry Brass with Seed Pearls & Carnelian Cabochon Ladies Evening Purse. The purse appears to be a fine woven tapestry with a scene of a lover presenting his maiden with gifts within the court yard. Off to the side is a monkey holding a tray of flowers. Simply beautiful with purples, burgundy, greens, golds, blues and browns. The tapestry is sewn onto a brass frame. One stitch is missing on the back side of the frame. The frame has inset seed pearls and carnelian cabs. Some of the pearls and stones are missing. The frame is not marked as to any maker or origin. Looks very French or Austrian to me. The inside of the purse has a peach color taffeta lining. Liner has 2 pockets and is very clean and in excellent condition with no holes or tears. Brass frame, clasp and chain are all good with an aged patina. Clasp closes nice and snug. Tapestry is in pretty good condition. Three of the corners have wear thru holes. See photo. The purse measures 6.5" across by 6" high. Chain strap measures 8.5" long from the top to the area that attaches to the purse. A beautiful purse to add to your collection!
